This special tea blend is named in honor of Mrs. Swati Pandey, an IPoS officer who grew up in the lush forests of Dandakaranya in Odisha under the shade of the fragrant Mohua and inspired me, Nivedita, to curate and create this unique tea. As my debut creation as a tea sommelier, Mahua Tea is a celebration of heritage and nature. Featuring the native mahua flowers, complemented by rose petals, hibiscus petals, and oolong tea, this blend offers a distinctive and immersive tea experience. A labor of love and the debut creation of a tea sommelier, Mahua Tea celebrates the region’s biodiversity with mahua flowers, a native forest treasure, blended with rose petals, hibiscus petals, and oolong tea. This artisanal blend offers a delicate dance of floral notes with the complexity of oolong, creating an immersive sensory experience.
Mahua flowers are known for their antioxidant, immune-boosting, and mood-enhancing properties. Hibiscus supports heart health and detoxification, while rose petals calm the mind and aid digestion. Oolong tea, a semi-fermented tea, offers the richness of black tea with the freshness of green tea, helping boost metabolism and mental alertness. Together, these ingredients create a tea that nurtures the body and uplifts the soul.
Origin of the Tea
The mahua flowers in this blend are foraged from the heart of the forests of Madhya Pradesh, where they bloom with rich cultural and ecological significance. The oolong tea is sourced from the misty hills of Darjeeling, known for its superior tea craftsmanship. The delicate rose petals and hibiscus flowers enhance the blend with a floral flair, creating a beverage rooted in tradition, nature, and elegance.
